Via Members Benefit from Wii Donation

Members of Via Health, Fitness & Enrichment Center are
benefitting from a recent donation of a Wii by the law
firm Burns, Cunningham & Mackey. Via members are able to
challenge their coordination, strength and physical
agility by using the Wii while competing against each
other in bowling, tennis, and other games. The Wii was
delivered to the Center and presented to Via Fitness
Director, Brock Cole, by Burns, Cunningham & Mackey’s
office manager Sharon Lane along with attorneys Peter
Burns and Troy Schwant.
“Cool White Linen Night” A Huge Success

Raising more than $60,000 to benefit Senior Citizens
Services and the Via programs, this year’s “Cool White
Linen Night” was a huge success! Monies raised will be
used to fund programs and services for older adults
through the Via programs. The event was held the evening
of August 20 at the Via Center, located at 1717 Dauphin
Street. It included both live and silent auctions,
catering by Oysterella’s and entertainment by Robert
Sully. With help from WKSJ Radio’s Dan Brennan and
Shelby Mitchell the evening was filled with music,
dancing, laughter and fun for everyone!
Silent auction items were generously donated by many
local business owners and individuals. They included
jewelry, art, pottery, crystal, gift certificates, spa
treatments, sports items and vacation rentals which were
all extremely popular with auction bidders.
The highlight of the evening was a live auction
featuring several sought-after items: a BayBears Cruise
on the Fantasy; a baseball autographed by Mobile’s own
Hank Aaron; a weekend golf package at the Marriott’s
Grand Hotel & Spa; and a one-week stay at the Oast House
in Kent England.
Co-chairs Pat Frazer and Randy Fausak, along with a
committee of dedicated volunteers worked tirelessly to
make the event a success. Committee members were: Geri
Moulton, Arlene Mitchell, Cathy Wagner, Donna Ballard,
Arvid Gaston, Melissa Cartier, Cheryl Jones, Clint
Jones, Nancy Sledge, Sarah Haas, Jani Handwerger, Jamie
Inge, Betsy Otts, Ginni Boyd, LeilaHollowell, Dotti Ryan
and Marsha Grant.
Thanks to the committee, as well as the many businesses
and individuals who supported this event, it was
definitely a night to be remembered!
