Senior Citizen Services Announces Appointment of New Board Members

The Board of Directors of Senior Citizen Services (SCS) is pleased to announce the appointment of three new board members for 2010 – 2011:  Katie Crane, Audrey Goldberg, and Robert Mitchell.

SCS 2010 – 2011 Board Officers are Clint Jones, president; Ginni Boyd and Ola Anise, vice presidents; Roma Hanks, secretary; Ben Meisler, treasurer; and Richard Dorman, past president. Long-standing Board Members are:  Donna Ballard, Norman Berger, Shawn Blair, Dana Carter, Harold Collins, Randy Fausak, Tim Gaston, Jani Handwerger, Yvonne King, Michael Maitre, Jr., Arlene Mitchell, Grey Redditt, Jr., Bill Shanahan, Nancy Sledge, Selwyn Turner III, and Cathy Wagner.

The mission of SCS is to promote a healthy, active, independent lifestyle among adults. SCS operates the Via programs, located at 1717 Dauphin Street in Mobile.

 “Bingo Babes” Enjoy Weekly Get-togethers at Via!

Affectionately known as the “Bingo Babes” at the Via Health, Fitness and Enrichment Center, four ladies, ages 90 and older, have been getting together weekly for 14 years to enjoy a spirited afternoon of bingo. It’s hard to tell which they enjoy more... each other’s company… or playing bingo! There’s no shortage of laughter with these four around.

Bingo is offered on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at the Via Health, Fitness and Enrichment Center for anyone 21 and older.
