Grandfriends Adult Day
Services
Senior Citizens Services has a long-standing reputation
of providing vital services to the Mobile community,
especially through its Via programs. Grandfriends, an
adult day services program, is one of the most valuable
benefits offered through Via Services.
For adults, age 50 and older who need supervision and
have special needs, the Grandfriends program is
available 7:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday,
excluding holidays. Managed by a registered nurse, the
program combines supervised activities in a safe,
affordable and comfortable environment. Participants
enjoy a daily routine of games, exercises and
socialization, including breakfast and lunch in a group
setting.
The Grandfriends Adult Day Services staff is dedicated
to helping families confronted with the challenges of
Alzheimer’s disease and other age-related issues. The
program offers an alternative to daytime home care or
residential placement. It is designed to provide
care-partners the opportunity for respite, and the
opportunity to continue their usual daily routine.
“Not being able to stay by herself, my mom attends
the program full-time while I’m at work. Knowing she’s
in a safe environment gives me such a sense of security.
There are not enough kind words for the place, the
people, the security, the meals …everything!” J.
