Leave a Legacy & Help Others

Please consider naming the Via Center as a beneficiary in your will. Providing support will allow the Center to grow and flourish and help others benefit from its programs and services.

Charitable gifts through your Will, will reduce the size of your estate. This can result in estate tax savings, both at the federal and state levels, if your net worth is above the current estate tax exemption limit.

Gifts of real estate, jewelry, retirement plan investments, life insurance or insurance annuity assets are all options. And, the beneficiary designations in a will, as well as the specific gift amounts and types, can be changed by donors at any time during their lives.

Thank you for Supporting Seniors

Dear Friends,

Every day a growing number of families in our community are faced with challenging decisions related to aging. More than just a “senior center, “ Senior Citizen Services has been providing invaluable support services for almost 40 years to help these families. Faced with the rapidly increasing aging population, each year it becomes more and more difficult to raise the additional dollars we need to continue. Thankfully, there are people like you who care and can help.

We offer help when it is needed the most!

Perhaps we have helped you or someone you know with a difficult situation: placing a loved one in a nursing home; dealing with end-of-life decisions; providing care for a loved one with Alzheimer’s disease; giving a box of food when someone’s money has all been used for medicine; or just listening and “being there.” These are only a few examples of how we impact lives every day by providing help when it is needed the most.

We also help strengthen the entire community through our healthy aging programs!

Many who participate in our wellness programs have experienced dramatic results. These results include significant weight loss, success in lowering blood pressure and cholesterol, better balance and flexibility, and improved mental acuity. Healthy aging strengthens the entire community.

As a non-profit agency, Senior Citizen Services operates three important “Via” program areas, all located at 1717 Dauphin Street in Mobile. Your donation will be used specifically for these programs. The Via programs are as follows:

  • The Via Health, Fitness and Enrichment Center is a multi-purpose community center: a place for a hot meal; a clinic to keep check on health through routine screenings; a fitness center and classes to maintain physical fitness; social and recreational activities; and continuous learning opportunities to keep the mind active and sharp
  • Via Services includes: Grandfriends, a daily adult care program for those with early Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, and other physical challenges; home care services for disabled and homebound elderly; food, utility and shelter assistance to help in an emergency; and transportation.
  • Via Solutions is a resource center that provides personal case management assistance to individuals and families who just need a little help finding local resources within the aging network.

Only 36 percent of our funding support comes from local governmental resources, therefore donations from our friends and supporters are vital.

Your gift of $10, $25, $50, $100, or more will positively impact the quality of life for hundreds of your friends and neighbors during the year ahead. Thank you!

Sincerely,

Deanna Murphy
