Activities
The Via Center offers a variety of services in the areas of fitness, health education, creative arts and recreation for older adults.
It boasts a new fitness room and gymnasium furnished with a full-range of cardio and strength training equipment. There’s even trained staff available to provide assistance to fitness members!
A variety of popular exercise classes are offered and involve yoga, aerobics, Tai Chi, stretching/flexibility and Silver Sneakers®.
Recreation and enrichment activities include: billiards, bingo, sewing, computer training, ceramics, painting, cards/games, woodworking, dance and foreign language classes.
Although many of these activities are free to Via members, all are open to the public for a small fee.

What: Nutrition: How it Affects Our Life and
Wellness as We Age
Good Nutrition is always important, but over time, it
plays an increasing important role in our health and how
we feel. For most people, older age is a very different
stage of life from earlier years when we could eat
anything and not seem to suffer any more significant

New Classes
What: Dodge Ball
What: Dodge Ball
We are hosting pick-up dodge ball games in the gym. The
teams are chosen randomly and are changed throughout the
night to create variety and keep the games fun. There
are many variations of the game, but the main objective
of each team is to eliminate all members of the opposing
team by hitting them with thrown balls, catching a ball
thrown by a member of the opposing team, or forcing them
to move outside the court boundaries when a ball is
thrown at them.

What: Beginners Yoga
This class focuses on stretching, proper breathing
techniques, balance, and flexibility.

Ongoing Classes
What: Yoga Basics with Deanna
This class was designed for active seniors in the
Explore Yoga program at the Exploreum. It is composed of
Supine Breath Instruction and Warm Up, Gentle Yoga
Seated Twists, Balance and Strengthening of Hands and
Knees, standing Balance, Standing Postures, Prone
Postures for strengthening the back and opening the
chest, Hip Openings, Twists, and Final Relaxation.
Modifications of postures will be offered for students

What: Yoga with Deanna
This class generally contains a Seated Warm –up, Sun
Salutations (a posture flow which includes deep lunges,
forward bending, and an inversion that places a good
deal of weight on wrists, arms, and shoulders), Standing
Postures which build strength and flexibility in the
legs and hips, Balance Postures, Hip Openings, Twists,
and Final Relaxation. Beginners are welcome, and
modifications are gladly offered for postures that not
within a student’s strength or flexibility levels. For

This class is designed for the real beginner in computer
skills. The fundamentals of computer parts, use of the
mouse, and giving instructions to the computer are the
basic subjects covered. Demonstrations and discussions
of the world of internet will also be introduced. The
goal of this class is to get students prepared to use
the internet and to be familiar with its fundamentals.

Instructor: Brock Cole
Pickleball is a fun game that is played on a badminton
court with the net lowered to 34 inches at the center.
It is played with a perforated plastic baseball (similar
to a whiffle ball) and wood or composite paddles. It is
easy for beginners to learn, but can develop into a
quick, fast-paced, competitive game for experienced
players.
